| I would loosely categorize myself as a liberal and progressive, although I think such terms mean different things to different people, so take it with a grain of salt. Certainly I consider the Republican Party as it exists in 1995 to be fundamentally evil and bent on sending the country into a spiral of destruction for all but a very privileged few. The Christian Coalition is the party's harbingers of apocalypse.
Like many progressives, I am dismayed by the Democratic Party, which is in utter disarray, and keeps heading further to the right in order to become "centrist". I consider President Clinton to be essentially conservative, and laugh out loud whenever some Republican thug describes him as liberal.
I tend to support Democrats in most elections, but I am becoming frustrated enough to begin voting for third parties even if they have little hope of winning. (Not the Libertarian Party, though; they're about as bad as the Republicans!). I am trying to educate myself about state and local politics where I live (Madison, Wisconsin) so that I cancast more informed votes.
Make no mistake, though; trying to become informed about all levels of politics is a lot of work. And I'm no activist; my life's goals do not include becoming heavily involved in the political arena. Nonetheless, I am trying to do what I can while remaining true to myself.

The Pew Research Center for The People & The Press has a quiz which places you in one of ten classifications. It says that I'm a Secularist, which is certainly the closest of their definitions.
The World's Smallest Political Quiz is sponsored by the Advocates for Self-Government, Inc., which appears to be philosophically related to the Libertarians. It asks you ten simple questions about your economic and personal outlook and places you on a grid of possible outcomes. I ended up as a "Left-Liberal", which is certainly correct.
