Lung Capacity
Today it was extremely humid out, and warmer than it's been the past week, too. Which made biking to work quite a challenge; this sort of weather makes it a lot more difficult. But I made it, and even managed to get up that last treacherous hill without walking for the third time this week! I also noticed that my lung capacity seems to be catching up to my regimen, as the long, gradual hills (the coup de grace that always seem to lie at the top of the short, steep hills) didn't seem to take as much out of my as usual. That was a nice feeling; it's great to have evidence that all this exercise is doing me good!
Work was more of the same: Plugging away at this big project, which is going well, but which it looks like I'll definitely be going in on Sunday to work on.
I finished setting up my plans for the James Bond Film Festival this week. In addition to the Tuesday outing for Goldfinger that I mentioned yesterday, I'll be going with my friend Pat to From Russia With Love on Monday, and I'll see Doctor No tomorrow. So I can run some errands before and after the movie tomorrow, and then have a very flexible schedule on Sunday, which suits me fine.
How strange to be planning my week so far ahead.
Tonight I pretty much took as downtime. I watched a couple more Batman/Superman episodes, including a rather cool Batman one with a flashback starring western gunslinger Jonah Hex. And did I mention the Superman episode "Brave New Metropolis" I saw earlier this week? Lois Lane ends up in a parallel universe in which she was killed, and Superman dons a black uniform and teams up with Luthor to take control of Metropolis and eradicate crime. Luthor being Luthor, however, things go bad, and Lois shows him how bad everything's turned out. The animation made Metropolis' architecture resemble the buildings from the Fritz Lang film of the same name, and it was all very cool in its renderings. One of the best of the series, I think!
Also read some more Prince Valiant and read the first eight issues of a vaguely surreal comic entitled Strangehaven, which seems weirdly non-plotted, but involved a bunch of exotic characters revolving around one another in an English village. I'm not sure what I think of it. I think there are a couple of other issues out there.
My brain is starting to melt. I'll try to be a little more inventive in my weekend entries!
