A Very Productive Weekend

Shortly after waking up this morning, I sat down at the computer and finished all the changes to my fantasy baseball stats programs that I started yesterday. I'm pretty happy with them. The only thing I'm missing is positional stats for minor league players in the 1997 season - but I don't think those are available on-line.

While doing that, I got a call from Matt, one of the folks I played Bridge with on Wednesday. He said he'd been reading the book I lent him, and wanted to get together today to play. So I called Janet, one of the other folks from Wednesday, and she said she'd be game. Then we got stuck: We couldn't find a fourth person, so we ended up having to call it off.

We might try again tomorrow night, though. This is just one of the pitfalls of setting things up at the last minute.

I spent the afternoon cleaning out my e-mail box, browsing the Web, working on both my and SF3's Web pages (including downloading an extension for BBEdit that Diane Patterson had recommended), placing an order with Amazon.com (my first one!), reading the newspaper, and other little things. Of course, later in the day I thought of a couple of other things I should have ordered from Amazon. Oh, well.

Eventually I got off my butt and got on my bike to ride around Lake Monona. It turns out there's construction along my regular route, so I detoured a little bit around it. Then I saw that there's a bike route which veers farther away from the lake, avoiding the major street in the way. I figured I'd try it out, and it wasn't too bad, until either I missed a sign, or the city forgot to put one up, because I ended up biking at least a mile farther north than I'd intended, finally getting my bearings at a location quite a ways away from my planned course. I figured I added a good 2-to-3 miles to my 10-mile circuit, and I was pretty tired when I got home. Also pretty hot and sweaty, as it's starting to get humid out.

I've been chugging various liquids for most of the day since then.

I installed some extra memory in my Apple Powerbook (don't really need it, but a friend bought some he can't use, was too late to return it, and is lending it to me), and packaged up a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to mail for a while. Thought about watching The Stand, which is being re-run on TV, but decided I couldn't commit to 8 hours of network programming this week. Ended up watching the Giants/Padres game on ESPN, and later watched SportsCenter.

In the midst of all this, I did decide to punt on going to see Clockwatchers in the theatre. Why stop a successful run of productivity?

A busy day? I suppose. Mainly I just feel that I need to shower before I hit the sack.
