A Day of Reading

Not a whole lot to report today, I'm afraid. I slept in nice and long, and once I straggled out of bed and cleaned myself I spent some time walking around downtown, looking in bookstores. I didn't find anything to buy, but I wanted to get out of the house and enjoy the nice weather, since it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.

I spent most of the afternoon reading Sheri Tepper's The Family Tree, which I finished tonight. The book took a very peculiar turn about mid-way through, and I found it all a little ridiculous. Magic is rampant throughout the book, which annoyed me to no end; it didn't seem certain whether it wanted to be a science fiction novel or a piece of light, semi-urban fantasy. Actually it came off reading very much like a modern fairy tale. I must admit that I think it is just not my kind of book.

I also did some cleaning of my apartment, and will do more tomorrow. I've really let things get pretty messy around here, and I have many surfaces that need sweeping, wiping, scrubbing, and whatnot. On the other hand, since I basically spent the day sitting around, I was able to spend a lot of time petting the cats, which I think they loved. I also went for a short bike ride this evening, but it was pretty windy so I didn't go too far.

I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow, but I guess it doesn't really matter, does it?
