A Short, Sharp Shock

Today was one of those days I'd just rather forget about. I had a big argument with a cow-orker today (you know how you're supposed to get along with people professionally even if you don't like each other personally? It's the other way around in this case; we get along fine personally, but have serious disagreements in our professional lives), following on the heels of a disagreement with someone else earlier in the week.

Then I came home and worked on my baseball software for a while - and promptly lost all my work when MacPerl decided not to save any of it! But I've decided I've had enough of the lame MacPerl editor, and I've started using BBEdit instead. It's a bit of a pain to have to switch programs to test my changes, but it's better than losing an hour of hacking.

I wonder if there's a way to run stuff directly from BBEdit? Hmm.

And the cats were being annoying again tonight, with Jefferson trying to lick every bit of food I got out for my dinner. I ended up splattering water on him out of frustration to drive him away. I tried to make it up later with a good pet-fest, but it's really annoying when he does that when I'm on a short fuse.

I think I'd just rather forget about today.

The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a strong start this year, winning their first two games (in Oakland). Pedro Martinez, who was signed to the biggest contract in baseball history, struck out 11 in 7 innings yesterday, and Tim Wakefield and a few relievers stopped the A's tonight. Given the Sox' slow starts the last two seasons, I hope this bodes well for the season as a whole. It's always nice to be in front during the race, and it perks up my own interest a little more.

The Brewers beat the Braves tonight, winning their first NL game. It took them 11 innings and a grand slam to do it, but they've gotten such good pitching in their first two games (for the most part) that one wonder if they'll be able to win a division title after all.

Sadly, it seems that one of our new recruits in our fantasy league is going to drop out before we even start. He says he just doesn't have time to do the necessary research before Saturday. It's too bad, but I hope we'll have a fun season anyway.

I've written this entry in a big flurry of I-wanna-get-this-down-but-I-don't-have-the-patience-to-think-too-much-about-it. It shows, doesn't it?

Basically it just means I want to bitch a little. Now it's past time for bed. Yawn.
