Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot

by Al Franken
Delacorte Press, © 1996, ISBN #0-385-31474-4

I finally broke down and bought this hardcover book. While it's not quite as meaty as, say, Molly Ivins book, it is good. It's particularly good just to read someone who can articulate how the whole fundamental conservative doctrine these days is based on lies and misdirection. He exposes Limbaugh's hypocrisy and untruths, exposes the hate and callousness at the core of many conservative leaders, and even produces a list of government programs which conservative leaders think are good, solid programs, such as the Interstate Highway system (George Will), the National Institutes of Health (John Kasich), the FAA (Bob Dornan), the National Park System (Arianna Huffington), Social Security, Medicare, Head Start, Food Stamps, the FDIC (all Ben Stein), the FBI, the GI Bill (Richard Viguerie).

It's also quite funny in places. We need more liberals like Franken (former writer for Saturday Night Live), people who aren't afraid to confront conservative craziness in all its forms and stand up for liberalism.
