One of my favorite alternative cartoons, ever since I discovered it in a Madison free political newspaper, this is in a sense a lesbian soap opera, although it also serves well as political/social satire and commentary - and of course humor. I think its success can best be attributed to Bechdel's ability to look at issues from several different angles, through her diverse characters.

Unnatural is the sixth collection of Bechdel's strip, all published by Firebrand Press. Somehow I don't think I'm her target audience, but I like her stuff anyway. (Although I'd be interested in seeing her characters relate to men - or even straight women - more often, to expand the strip's scope. That doesn't seem too likely, but I can live with that.)
